PHOTOHISTORIES
How to research and find old
photographs

This practical course offers participants the opportunity to work on a future QueenSpark publication. Together with a professional picture editor and the Curator of Photographs at Brighton Museum +Art Gallery, course members will learn about picture copyright and how to source old photographs for web and print use. (5 sessions over 9 weeks)

Commemorating the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act

EXHIBITION
The installation comprises a scale-model of a chattel house with a traditional exterior but with contemporary furnishings inside. Related art works will be exhibited personifying the intimate relationship from slavery to the present day which has characterised their history and produced the diversity of contemporary British society. Situated in the front window area of Jubilee Library, it is the final event of the year- long ‘Redemption Song’ project.

In February 2004, 23 illegal Chinese immigrants drowned in Morecambe Bay while picking cockles. Three Chinese gangmasters were imprisoned, but none of the English client-base was ever held to account.
