The Word
Welcome to the Word
This Season's events feature a major exhibition Bridgetown to Brighton during February and March which features an installation with related art works, and a scale-model of a chattel house in the front window area of the Jubilee library.
We also have a film screening of Ghosts on 28 February and the launch of Salt and Vinegar, a life writing anthology from Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project on 6 March, World Book Day.
This site will keep you informed about forthcoming events and workshops. If you would like to join our mailing list either email us direct at TheWord@brighton-hove.gov.uk or click on 'Contact Us' in the top left hand corner of this page. Tickets for all events can be purchased through the Booklover Store at Jubilee Library.

Jubilee Library
This innovative, modern library is one of the most energy efficient public
buildings in the country. It is designed to take advantage of the natural energy
provided by sunshine and wind and even has toilets that are flushed with recovered
rainwater!
Arranged over three floors, the building allows all the library stock to be
brought together for the first time including adult fiction, information and reference,
audio visual material, rare books and special collections. The library also features
a young peoples area, childrens library, sound and vision section,
conference suite, computer suite and an exhibition space making it accessible
and enjoyable for everyone.
Brighton's new Jubilee Library is a £14 million landmark building and
will be the focus of a new city square. It is part of an ambitious regeneration
transforming a major site, which has been largely derelict for half a century,
into a vibrant space for contemporary urban living.
